Bring the kiddies raving

Lots more fun at Underworld & Basement Jaxx (shocker).

Underworld have a posse though. Lots of little ravers.

Some quick photos of people having fun before the folksies get back from Green Man

Here are a couple of photos from the Chemical Brothers at Marlay Park on Friday. Thanks to some fantastically smart promotion from MCD & Budweiser, the kids were given the option to pay €50 for the pleasure of heading out at 4:30 to a concert that would be over by 10:30, featuring the Chemical Brothers & Sonic Youth on the main stage and Jacques Le Cont, Tiga, Jonny Moy & Philth in the dance tent.

Oh, and the same weekend boasts gigs with Underworld, Basement Jaxx & Mylo + Errol Alkan, The Glimmer Twins and others in the same venue, for the same price, but on a Day that most people can get to.

And sometime next week, the 'festival' continues in Lansdowne Road and the RDS with some more 'interesting' combinations.

Anyway, most people faced with a choice of paying €100 for two concerts or €50 for one, picked the one that they could reasonably expect to see all of. There were a lot of freebies. Phil was on at 4:30 which meant that anyone with a job missed his apparently very good set.

Then we got to sit around on the grass drinking €5 a glass godawful hangover inducing piss, decline the option of paying €9.50 for a chip van burger & chips, and get searched by the Drug Squad (which considering that I'd just come from work and was sitting with a man in a tweed sports jacket was a bit rich).

Anyway, despite all that, we did get to see a series of great gigs for the cost of transport and drink.

Sonic Youth were great, despite the fact that there might have been more people in the Top Hat that time they played with Nirvana as support and the some nasty sound glitches when Lee's turn to sing came along. Thurston managed to drop his guitar off the front of the stage while dangling it, and did a great Bono at Live Aid climb off the scaffolding down to the crowd moment, followed by an even better Mr Burns moment when he tried climbing back up.

I was too crap to get any of this on film.

I had seen Eamonn post pictures of Sandal wearing hippies at Green Man though, so here's my idea of fun...
