was good wasn't it? The video for Johnny Cash singing Hurt was fantastic, very moving. I looked at it again this morning. When I went to look up the lyrics I noticed that the "crown of thorns" was originally "crown of shit".
Watched a bit more telly then, MTV are doing a 'brand new music' promotion, this meant some live Interpol (good except they should move 2 % of their attention from clothes to the wigging out), a few Thrills videos (ok songs, definitely looking Irish in the clothes dept), 50 Cent (In Da Club - do all his songs sound this good? The samples and music are sort of rave inspired, piano up and up to the peak) and some other stuff that I have forgotten.
Does Johnny Cash play live anymore?

I tried to buy a copy of Hurt for Tom Ewing's birthday last weekend, but they don't have it in London.
There was a fair amount of In The Club around, as hey shorty, it's your birthday! gonna party, like it's your birthday!
Johnny Cash spends a lot of his time getting pneumonia, because he has autonomic neuropathy. I'd love to see him one time in a Whelans/Vicar Street size venue, but that's not going to happen now.

I am just a few weeks behind everyone, maybe I promise to catch up soon. Shame about Johnny, hope his health doesn't deteriorate. Is he still very Christian?

Don't bother yourself, I'm just a shiftless bastard at the moment. At some point work will start back up and I won't be seen here much. What's that you say? I'm not here anyway? Well fuck you, buddy.
The video's here: http://demand1.stream.aol.com/ramgen/timeinc/uk/ipcmedia/nme/video/mar03/cash.smi
It's great, it really is.

Also I assume he is still Christian. Apart from the fact that what does is, y'know, great, you really can't argue with somone who can release a three-CD best of called God, Love and Murder.

Would that be the best overview of his music then - I mean there are a lot of JC albums out there? I have Live At Folsom Prison. Did he actually spend time in jail for smuggling the speed that time?

Er, you wouldn't have... my Live At Folsom, would you? Genuine question, I thought Karl had it.
I have no real idea where to go for a best of. GLM might be an excellent place to start, though www.allmusic.com says that the God disc is a little light.

Ah it was yours! No I returned a good while ago, I made an illegal copy though.

Sorry but that video again, watched it a few more times last night, it's just all too good - the few gestures he makes, when he spills the wine (it's violent - you imagine Johnny Cash never having done what others wanted him to do). Old timey shots Johnny in suit jackets and with a big mop of hair reminds me of farmer fashion and of even how my father looked. Onwards onto new music now!
