Missing Productions - About

What is it anyway?

The film project was initiated by scriptwriter/cinematographer Anne Boyle and producer/director Nodlag Houlihan as part of their MA degree. Sound-designer Luke Dominey, who had previously collaborated with Anne and Nodlag on 'Tweak' (2001), was next to come on board. Along with a student film crew from St. John's College in Cork a national and international crew and cast was assembled - with members hailing from Dublin, the UK, America and Australia - who all donated their services freely to work on the film.

The filming occurred in West Cork over an eight day period in June 2002. In February of the following year part of the crew returned to the area to shoot additional 16mm footage. The film's story is integrally linked to West Cork and the beautiful and unusual scenery has been the subject of much comment by audiences at our early screenings.

The film was screened as part of 'The Best of UK Shorts' programme at the Leeds International Film Festival on November the 6th. The Irish premiere of Missing will be on November 30th at the Foyle Film Festival, this will also be the first public screening of our 35mm print.
